Learn more about the Bichon Frise.
Puka (pronounced Poo-Kah) is a 1/21 Lancaster, PA puppy mill rescue. He's around 4 years old, a purebred Bichon Frise who, although currently shaven, will be absolutely adorable once his non-shedding fur comes back in and he has that handsome fuzzy face. Puka is coming along very well with his socialization. He adapted to crate training very quickly and is getting off to a great start with his house training. So far the accidents are few and far in between. Puka is very nervous about someone approaching him and tends to avoid this type of situation. Once in your lap, however, he settles down and totally enjoys any attention you give him. He does well on the leash and harness collar, which we use to take him outside to relieve himself. Puka enjoys exploring the outdoors, but for now while we're house training him and breaking him of his leeriness towards humans, we're sticking with the leash/collar routine while outside. Puka needs a home which will offer the patience and love to further teach him that mankind is a kind and gentle species. He's such a cute young man who often does the famous Bichon cocking of the head when he hears and interested sound or your voice. He would like someone who is home most of the time and would relish the idea of another dog in the house to keep him company.
