This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
Jaeylyn is a beautiful girl who sure has been through a lot! She was brutally attacked by a dog and came extremely close to losing her life. Someone found her and took her to the vet thinking she needed to be euthanized. They did emergency surgery, putting everything back where it belonged and trying to close up the gaping holes in her body. She had a very long recovery at her foster home where she received tons of love and attention and medical care. Throughout the entire ordeal she has remained the most sweet and loving kitty. She is a definite lap cat, and she sleeps in bed with her foster mom every night. Even after this horrible attack, she still likes dogs if you can believe that! Her foster mom has 5 dogs, and she does not bat an eye at them, and they all sleep together curled up on the bed. She gets along very well with other cats as well. She's a BIG girl with a sweet personality and super long soft hair. Unfortunately, Jaelyn developed a very large hernia which needs to be repaired. She is scheduled for surgery March 4th, please keep her in your thoughts. She should be ready for adoption at the end of March once she is healed from her surgery.
Jaelyn is spayed, tested negative for FeLv/FIV/HW, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $100
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
