Meet Yoshi! This amazing boy was brought into the shelter with a severely damaged front left leg. We wish he could tell us what happened. Efforts were made to try to save the leg, but it became clear that he needed to have his leg and shoulder amputated. He was probably unable to use that leg for quite some time anyway, so he adjusted brilliantly to having it out of his way and being a tripod! He is completely healed now and he runs all around, jumps, plays, everything. He looks a bit like a kangaroo! He is the absolute sweetest kitty, he loves to sit on your lap and snuggle. He loves to play with the other kittens in his foster home - he has taken on the role of Dad to the tiny 1 pound litter of kittens he is being fostered with. They all snuggle up against him and he grooms them, and he will run around and play with them too. He has such a wonderful personality!
Yoshi is neutered, tested negative for FeLv/FIV/HW, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $150

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - due to COVID-19, we will not be able to do on-site meet and greets. Adoptive families can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. All paperwork can be done online and adoption fees can be paid by Paypal. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
