Check out this guy! Jake is a BIG boy who we rescued from a high kill shelter in North Carolina. We think he is either a Maine Coon or Norweigan Forest Cat due to his super super long thick hair and large build. When we got him he was so severely matted, we had no choice but to shave him. He has a cute lion cut at the moment, and we are sure he feels soo much more comfortable! His extremely long hair mats easily, and his adopters will need to brush him daily or get him professionally groomed regularly so that he does not get matted again. He is a very sweet and cuddly guy, who will stretch out on his back on your lap and cuddle until your legs fall asleep. He is about 3 years old and super affectionate. He is very gentle with children and gets along very well with other cats. He is calm and easy going and sweet as pie.
We included a photo of what he looked like when we had just shaved a couple of the worst mats from him so you can get an idea of what he will look like once his hair grows back.
He is neutered, tested negative for FeLv/FIV/HW, is up to date on all vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a "Cat Adoption Application" at www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
Adoption fee is: $200

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - due to COVID-19, we will not be able to do on-site meet and greets. Adoptive families can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. All paperwork can be done online and adoption fees can be paid by Paypal. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
