Meet Copper! Copper is a very sweet kitty who was rescued from a southern shelter. He has very long hair, and he was extremely matted when he arrived at DPR. His whole body was covered in tight painful mats. We took him to a professional groomer and it took 3 people several hours to shave all the mats off. He must be much more comfortable now, albeit a bit embarassed by his haircut! He squints at us or turns away when we try to take his picture! Maybe one of these days we will be able to get a good photo of him because he is a stunning cat. And we think he looks pretty adorable with his Lion-Cut hairstyle! His hair feels like velvet! He gets along very well with everyone, even the little kittens he is being fostered with. He is friendly and affectionate. He will need a home with someone who is willing to brush him daily or take him regularly to a groomer to prevent him from getting very matted again.

This cat is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is up to date on shots, and litter box trained!

If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit a "Cat Adoption Application"   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - due to COVID-19, we will not be able to do on-site meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
