Meet Rita! She was rescued along with her sister, Janet, from a shelter in North Carolina. They are about 2.5 months old and are ready for adoption! These girls are super unique because only 20% of orange cats are female!
Rita is the smaller of the two with the sweetest saddest little eyes that will just melt your heart! She loves to be held and to cuddle and will start purring as soon as you pick her up. She was born with "swimmers legs" meaning her back legs splayed outwards and she was not able to really walk, she would scoot around on her belly. Thankfully, we were able to get her when she was very young and immediately started treating this by having her legs splited and doing daily physical therapy. Now you can barely tell! She runs around and plays with the other kittens normally and is able to climb and jump like the best of them. She enjoys playing with her sister and with her toys, especially the crinkle balls and the wand toys. Rita and Janet can be adopted together or separately, there is a discount for adopting the pair though! 

This cat tested negative for FIV/Felv, is up to date on shots, and litter box trained!

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption: 

Initial vet visit 
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers 
Monthly flea/tick preventative 
Ear mite preventative 
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
