10/24/22 - Meet Pumpkin Spice Latte! Talk about a SWEET kitten! He is super friendly and affectionate and wants nothing more than to be pet and cuddle in your lap. He purrs the second you start petting him. He is wonderful with all the other cats and kittens he is being fostered with. He has long hair that is super soft and silky.
Pumpkin Spice Latte was diagnosed with a Grade 4 out of 6 heart murmur. He has an appointment with a cardiologist in November and will be getting an Echocardiogram. We will know more at that point about what is causing the murmur.

11/2/22 - Pumpkin had his Echocardiogram today and he did great! He was so cooperative and everyone there loved him. The Cardiologist explained that his murmur is caused by a congenital heart defect - Pumpkin has a tiny hole in his heart. But as far as holes-in-hearts go, Pumpkin's is not too bad! The doctor said it is not causing any clinical issues or heart damage, he does not need any medications, and he is expected to be able to live a full normal life. So we were pretty excited about all that! Go Pumpkin! He cleared him to be neutered and then adopted. The vet suggested following up with another echocardiogram when he is full grown, so about a year from now, just to make sure that nothing has changed. He said the vast majority of cases like Pumpkins do not change and do not require further echo's or medication. DPR will pay for the follow up echocardiogram next year.

This cat is microchipped, tested negative for FIV and Leukemia and is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. He will be neutered prior to adoption.

This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
