Meet Sandy! Can you believe that cute little Sandy was found on a shelf at a Halloween store?! The employees thought it was a squirrel at first, but thankfully they eventually realized it was a chinchilla and one of the store employees reached out to Delaware Pet Rescue to see if we could find her a home. We of course said yes. We named her Sandy after Sandy Cheeks, the squirrel in Spongebob. We took her to our vet, and she got a clean bill of health - the vet said she was a bit thin (even though she looks pretty spherical to us!) but otherwise looked great. She has all the hay and pellets she can eat now. The vet estimated her age to be around a year old. She has a very sweet personality - she enjoys romping around, jumping up on things, and her favorite thing is her dust baths. Check out her video below! She is super super soft - her hair feels like a cloud! She comes up to the front of the cage to greet us, and she is comfortable being held. She will be a wonderful companion!
