Meet Cape Henlopen! This adorable little guy was rescued from a shelter who asked for our assistance with several of their guinea pigs. He is very friendly and outgoing! He runs to the front of the cage to greet us and just watch what's going on. He will stand up on his hind legs like a prairie dog when you get nearby and will eat veggies right out of your hand. He loves to eat and is enthusiastic about all the fruits and veggies - we haven't found a fruit or veggie yet that he doesn't love! He enjoys sitting on your lap as well, and he comes up to us to when he's in his cage to solicit some head scratches. He was even okay with us dressing him up like a shark! Guinea pigs in shark costumes just crack us up!

All our guinea pigs see the vet for a wellness visit and nail trim prior to adoption.

Guinea pigs have wonderful personalities- they are gentle and we have yet to come across any who bite, and they keep a daytime schedule! They form close bonds with their people, similar to cats and dogs. Did you know they are able to recognize people based on scent, sound and sight?! These sweet animals make wonderful pets!

If you are interested in adopting, pleas fill out a "Guinea Pig Application"   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms

This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do on-site meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the guinea pig's foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the guinea pig. You can pick your guinea pig up "curb side". Guinea pigs can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR guinea pigs receive a vet check up prior to adoption!

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
