Meet Mantis! This cool dude has a story (although how we wish he could tell us his full story of what happend before he came to us!) He was found as an injured stray and brought into an extremely overcrowded shelter in North Carolina. We pulled him and got him the vet care he desperately needed. His back leg was severely swollen, with his poor foot about 3 times the size as it should be. He was extremely underweight as well. His tail was also injured and appears to have been cut off about half way down. X-rays showed no broken bones. He was hospitalized for 20 days where he received laser therapies and lots of antibiotics and other treatments to help him recover. His leg finally started to improve and he was able to walk on it. This all happened in June, so it's been a couple months, but he still walks with a pretty pronounced limp. The vet said he might always walk like this. He thankfully does not seem to be in any pain though. And despite all that he went through, he is the absolute sweetest cat who just wants love and attention all the time! He loves being pet and cuddled and will happily sit on your lap or be carried around. Being scratched behind his ears is a favorite. He is very tolerant of all the silly kittens he is being fostered with, but he does not care for dogs, perhaps it was a dog who injured him? We don't know his whole story, but what we know for sure is that he is VERY happy to be an indoor cat now and be able to relax and get pampered. He has gained several pounds and is a good healthy weight (he's a BIG boy!) The vet has cleared him to be adopted, and we couldn't be more thrilled for him. We adore Mantis and we know you will too! This cat is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and Leukemia and is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations.
