Meet Gummi Bear! This little girl sure has been through a lot in her short life, but she is full of personality and joy!! She was found on the side of the road badly injured, and was taken to the vet where it was found that her femur and her pelvis were both badly broken, as well as her tail. Her tail was amputated right away. The vet tried at first to set her leg to see if it would heal, but unfortunately it became quickly clear that she had no feeling in that leg at all, and her back left leg was also amputated. She healed beautifully and immediately mastered walking with 3 legs! Having 3 legs does not slow her down one bit, that's for sure! She is a very energetic kitten who loves to run around and play. She LOVES toys. Her favorites are chasing around the jingle ball toys or playing with the wand toys. She's also very chatty, and voiced her complaints the entire drive in the car. She had more than her fair share of cage-rest when she was healing, and she is LOVING all her new found freedom. She is a busy girl who will play with anything and everything, including your hands (she's a teething kitten)! If you have a soft spot for differently-abled, spunky, sassy kittens who have a lot to say, then Gummi Bear is your girl!

Gummi Bear thankfully has no problems using the litter box.

She will need to be spayed when she is old enough.
She is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
