Missy is a rescue from an Ohio puppy mill auction.  She spent her entire life having puppies for the miller to sell.  We first saw her sitting in one of the stacked cages in the tractor trailer to be looked over by other millers looking to diversify their breeding stock.   She caught our eye but buying an older adult breeder is costly and can take months for rehab.  The following day her turn came up to be plucked from her cage, sat up on a table in front of dozens of breeders, and auctioned to the highest bidder - only to continue her cycle of breeding and life in a cage.  As the auctioneer quickly spat out her history - a "good breeder", "pups are all sell outs" she looked over at us sitting in the stands.  It was just one of those connections that we couldn't turn away.  We started our bidding against the other breeders with a look of determination letting them know we weren't going to walk away without her.  Holding our breath, we finally heard the auctioneer slam down the hammer with a loud "SOLD" to #153 - that was us and she was ours.
Missy is adjusting to the real world quickly.  We are amazed at how curious she is about all that is going on around her.  She has been spayed and given all of her shots.  She was groomed and did wonderfully.  Missy loves to follow the other dogs in the house and is starting to curl up for her naps against one or two of them.  She is still very hand shy and takes awhile to relax in your arms but we know that will be overcome with time.  She comes to meet everyone that walks into the house anxious to see who is visiting.  We have no doubt she will become a wonderful dog to the right family.  We are looking for a quiet home with another dog who would continue to show her the ropes.  She still has lots to learn about being a normal dog but we are confident she will be in time.  She will need a fenced in yard as she is not comfortable on a leash yet.  If you would like to Missy please submit an adoption application:
