Meet Captain Jack Sparrow! We had to give him a main character name because he is always front and center!! He is only 10 months old but is already quite large, so he's going to be a very big boy! He is extremely friendly and affectionate and will follow you around looking for pets and love. He gets along great with everybody, including cats, dogs and kids! He was rescued from a shelter in NC and stayed at a foster home down there while he awaited transport to DPR. At his foster home in NC, he slept in bed with his foster mom every night, cuddled on her pillow. He loves to give kisses too. He is the absolute sweetest boy, and we just can't say enough great things about him!
This cat is neutered, microchipped, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative.

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
