Update: 9-13-06 - Girl (formerly Kia) is doing wonderfully. She will remain on her monthly heartworm treatment (one Heartguard pill a month) and will not need any further treatment. She is housetrained and is starting to show a little spunk. She will run to the front door with the other dogs to see who is there; she has started playing with some of the puppies but is most content just keeping you company. Update 5/14/06: Our girl Kia is heartworm positive. We are scheduling her treatment in the next week. She will still be available for adoption but will need a quiet home to recoop after her treatment.

This beautiful girl was dumped after spending nine years with her owners. They wanted a puppy. Since she was an owner turn in at a kill shelter, she was given only 24 hours to be adopted. We saw something in her eyes, and couldn't let her end like that. She will be arriving from Georgia May 6th. We don't know much about her other than she is friendly sweet girl.
