UPDATE - 11/19/11

I just can't believe the love out there for me!!  Not only have your donations covered my surgery which will be done in about 3 months but a wonderful family is adopting not only me but Cromwell too!!  Can you believe it?  If you remember Cromwell also has a bad eye that needs surgery (he was born with only one eye and the other has to be cleaned out and closed up).  Between the two of us we have two good eyes and a family that has had special needs pups just like us.  How lucky could we be?  They promised to send all our followers' updates on how we are doing in our new home.  Of course once we are big enough for our operations, DPR will have them scheduled through the hospital and let you know how we did.  I can tell you though that we're going to be just fine - we're an awesome pair and have so much in common.

Thank you again for all your support to get us well.  This is why DPR can take on special cases just like us who need extra medical care and special families.  We were given a chance thanks to you!!

UPDATE - 11/13/11

Hello everybody!  I had my eye doctor appointment on Saturday and everything went well!  They checked my good eye and determined that there were no problems with it!  I was a very good boy when they did all the tests and the ultrasound on my bad eye.  They said that it will need to be removed but that it is under control for now and I can wait several more months to have the surgery.  That means I get to go to my forever home with my new family this week!  My new parents are very excited to take me and my brother, Cromwell home!  (Did I mention that we are getting adopted together?!)

Also, my leg is doing MUCH better!  After a lot of physical therapy, it is bending normally and I can walk and run on it very well.  It's still a little bit weak, but it's getting stronger every day.  The first day I came to DPR I could barely walk at all, and now just 3 weeks later I can walk great (with just a slight waddle which everyone thinks is adorable)!

Thank you to all of my friends and sponsors!

Hugs,

Bradley

UPDATE - 11/7/11

Hi friends!  I am definitely enjoying being pampered!  Belly rubs and peanut butter are two of my most favorite things!  My leg is steadily getting stronger, and my foster mom and grandmom massage it every day and work on bending it.  It seems to be helping, and guess what I did today - I went all the way up the stairs all by myself!!!  I was so excited and everybody was so proud of me!

I still do not like getting my eye drops (and I need 6 drops/day!), but my foster mommy tells me that even though they sting, that they are making my eye better.  It is already less cloudy and a little bit less bulging.  I am trying to be a brave little boy!  I have an appointment on Saturday with a doggie ophthamologist to check out both of my eyes.  I will let you know how that goes!

Thank you to all of my friends who have given donations towards my eye surgery - every little bit counts!  And I just found out that my buddy, Cromwell, is going to need his eye removed too.  All of your generous donations are so greatly appreciated by me and Cromwell!

10/30/11

Hi everyone!  My name is Bradley, and I was rescued from an Indiana puppy mill.  I am a designer breed called a "teddy bear", which is a shih tzu / bichon mix.  I am 8 weeks old and almost 3 pounds, and cute as a button!  I have been told that I have the sweetest personality.  I'm very friendly and I get along great with everybody.  I love to run around and play with my foster siblings, but when I get tired my favorite thing to do is curl up right next to my foster mom.

I am a very special little boy because I can only see out of one of my eyes.  I can still see perfectly fine with my one good eye though!  My other eye has glaucoma and will need to be removed in the next month or two.  We are waiting until I am big and strong to have the eye surgery!  Unfortunately it hurts me even with the antibiotics and ointments my foster mom applies several times a day.  She is doing everything possible to make me more comfortable until the surgery and she is starting me on pain medications from the doctors.  I just need to get bigger and stronger to get my surgery.  Also, my back right leg was injured when I was still in the puppy mill as a tiny baby.  My knee and ankle do not bend, but it doesn't hurt at all and I still walk with it, just with a slight limp.   Before I got to my foster moms I was only in a small cage with a wire bottom so I wasn't able to build my muscles in that leg.  Now I'm getting good nutrition, exercise and therapy.  I walk great on carpeting, and I still run around with my foster siblings!  My walking has improved greatly since I first arrived from the puppy mill, and I'm sure it will continue to improve as my muscles get stronger.  I am such a sweet and loving little puppy, and I am truly an inspiration!!

If you are interested in showing your support for me, I would be so grateful for any donations to go toward my eye surgery!  Stay tuned for updates from my foster mom!!

Donations are tax deductible and can be sent through Paypal with a Visa/Mastercard or if you would like to mail a donation please send an email to DPRrescue@aol.com

Thank you for all your support!!
