Update:  Bo is doing great!!  He has found his balance on three legs and is starting to run like he has all four.  We want to thank Everyone for their donations to cover his expenses which are now paid in full!  Thank you!

We found a wonderful adopter for him who is very much in love and is also very grateful for all your support.  We will be posting updated pictures of our boy soon.

Meet Bo - now named Trike.  Delaware Puppy Rescue had coordinated pulling him and his three brothers from a shelter in SC.  We were notified a few days before transport that he had been hit by a car but he would be OK being kept quiet and crated.  Upon his arrival we realized it was much worse.  He was taken to Windcrest Emergency Hospital where it was discovered he had a broken leg and a broken hip.  Because it had been over 5 days without treatment it was too late to save his leg.  Surgery was scheduled at Limestone Veterinary Hospital and his leg and hip were amputated.  Our boy has come through surgery like a trooper.  Though only 10 weeks old he is recovering nicely.  He is on pain meds and is learning to get around on 3 legs.  The total cost for his vet expenses has reached $1200.00.  If you can help with any donation please visit www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org to make a tax deductible donation.

When we realized how bad he was upon arrival our first reaction was to be angry with the shelter who allowed him to live 5 days in his condition with minimum vet care.

BUT - the reality is that they have no money to vet dogs.  They have nothing but the volunteers who spend endless hours trying to find rescue for the incoming pets; they face seeing 98% of them euthanized.

The same people who coordinate getting these pets to rescue are also the same people driving from SC to NY to get them to the rescues on their days off.  The only option for Bo was to get him through the week to get to us or put him down.   It was a hard decision, but the right decision.

This is rescue.
