Xander, pronounced Zander, has been with us for about 2 months.  He is a 5 year old neutered male that has been well taken care of.  His Dad started traveling more with a new job and Xander was spending too many hours in his crate. The family wanted to provide a better life for him. It was a hard decision to make and many tears were shed when they released him. 

 

A previous rescue pup, he is very timid at first.  Initially there were potty issues but it was never due to "marking his territory".  Now that he has adopted to our schedule, he either lets us know its time, or will go on the we-we pads.  He spent the first two nights in his crate, but I felt too sorry for him because our dogs sleep with us.  This became an issue because he would urinate during the nighttime hours.  So I made a belly bag lined with a sanitary pad.  We call the bag his PJ's.  Since then we rarely find it wet in the morning. Sometimes we forget to put it on but he hasn't "gone".

 

He is good with other dogs, and children, a true sweetheart.  This breed of dog can live well beyond 15 years, so at 5, he is still young.  He needs someone to be patient with his training until he gets familiar with their schedule.  An older couple would be perfect, or someone with older children that can spend time loving him.  Last thing we need is for him to run into the same issue that brought him to us, no time for him.  He is too sweet for that.
