Hello!

Barkley is a 16-month old Bichon Frise puppy.  He was bred by the Happy Woofer in Delaware, and we brought him home at 9 weeks.  He has been neutered, is house-broken, and is very well socialized around small children, dogs, and cats.  Barkley loves to play inside and outside, go for several walks a day, and we call him our “Velcro Dog” because he always wants to be near us, run around with us, sit on our laps, and snuggle with us.  Barkley has been a wonderful delight to us and our two young children!

Unfortunately, Barkley has had a few minor but chronic health issues, and due to a job loss, we can no longer afford to give him the veterinary care he needs.  He is prone to mild ear infections, and our neighborhood has many fleas (due to feral cats in the neighborhood) which was a problem for him in the summer.  He also has a sensitive GI tract, which may possibly improve with age, but would likely improve in a home without baby toys and food around on the floor.  We would love to be able to keep Barkley with us, but we love him so much that we want him to have a family who can afford to take care of him.

We are looking for a very good forever-home for Barkley, and will only interview potential families who are serious about giving him the attention and care he occasionally needs.  He is up-to-date on all of his shots and tests (his annual check-up was in January), and will come with his veterinary records from birth.  We are requesting a $100 re-homing fee, partly to that ensure the new family will be able to afford any veterinary care he might continue to need, and also because the start-up puppy work (training, shots, etc.) has been done for you.

If you are interested in adopting Barkley, please send your name, contact information including email, two references, and brief note about yourself and your interest in Barkley to Brianna and Eric Tranby: btranby@udel.edu.  Thank you!
