Maverick came to us from the Rockbridge SPCA in Lexington. He's around 3 1/2 months old, and had his 3 sets of shots already, so he's all ready for his new home. How can you not love those pointy ears?

Maverick is a sweet and very friendly puppy. He’s a little shy at first when he meets someone new. But it’s not long before he’s on your lap giving lots of kisses. Maverick is a curious and energetic puppy. So he will need an active family who will take the time needed to train, exercise and socialize him.

The Cattle Dog breed is a bold, clever, active canine with a mind of his own. Generally affectionate with children he grows up with, he can nonetheless take it upon himself to herd them around by nipping at their heels. He can be tough with other dogs as well as people. Early and continuous socialization and training helps them learn that people, fortunately, are the top dogs.”

They are always alert, extremely intelligent, watchful, courageous and trustworthy, with an implicit devotion to duty making it an ideal dog. Their loyalty and protective instincts make it a self-appointed guardian.
