Rescue favorite!!! Gracie is definitely one of the most loving and affectionate cats we have ever come across! She is a petite Maine Coon mix and has the fluffy hair and amazing personality the breed is known for.
Gracie was originally pulled by DPR from a high kill shelter in 2016. She was pregnant and had her babies at one of our foster homes, and shortly afterwards came down with a terrible infection and had to have emergency surgery to remove a blockage in her stomach, she then developed mastitis and needed surgery to remove a mammary. After that, she developed a hernia and needed yet another surgery. Even through all of this, she was just as sweet and loving as can be! She rolled right over and let the vet remove her stitches. Just your ideal patient - you don't come across that too often with cats! Once she was all fixed up, she was adopted to a loving home. Recently, she was returned to DPR because her owner moved and was not longer able to care for her. She is an amazing cat, we truly can't say enough great things about her. She follows you around everywhere you go, she loves to be pet, cuddled and being held like a baby. She likes to sit on your lap and she has never met a stranger. She loves kids and toddlers! She loves dogs of any size, and gets along great with other cats too. When she's not actively seeking pets, she enjoys playing with her toys. She definitely has that awesome dog-like personality that Maine Coons are known for!
Gracie is spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is up to date on shots, and litter box trained! She is currently on Hills Prescription diet due to a sensitive stomach.

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.
*Please note - due to COVID-19, we will not be able to do on-site meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up "curb side". Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *
DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:
Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
