Meet Ophelia and Opalite! Can you believe they are even real?! Ophelia's long, luscious locks are just gorgeous. She has very soft fluffy hair and appears to be a cross between a Peruvian guinea pig and a Teddy. Being a long haired breed, she'll require regular beauty maintenance of being brushed to keep her hair from getting knotty. She thankfully really loves her spa days and is very agreeable and well behaved! She will come right over to you for pets and love and gets excited to eat treats right from your hand. Her bestie, Opalite, is an adorable Abyssinian guinea pig. Abyssinians are known for their hair which sticks up in every direction. The hair swirls are called rosettes. She is very sweet and loving - comes right out to see you with the cutest little squeaks. The two of them have always lived together and are very bonded, so we are looking for a home where they can stay together. You can often find them cuddling together and snacking together. They are both very friendly and more than happy to snuggle on your lap. They are great with kids too. We just can't say enough great things about these two girls! We love them and we know you will too.
Check out their videos at the bottom of their website https://www.delawarepetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=21978910

All our guinea pigs see the vet for a wellness visit and nail trim prior to adoption.

Guinea pigs have wonderful personalities- they are gentle and we have yet to come across any who bite, and they keep a daytime schedule! They form close bonds with their people, similar to cats and dogs. Did you know they are able to recognize people based on scent, sound and sight?! These sweet animals make wonderful pets!

This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do on-site meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the guinea pig's foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the guinea pig. You can pick your guinea pig up "curb side". Guinea pigs can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR guinea pigs receive a vet check up prior to adoption!

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
