Rainbow Bridge

We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan, but
knowing it is greater than the pain ....

--- Irving Townsend ---

No wise man who ever lived could truly comfort the heart that has lost what it held most dear. Most people have experienced the loss of a loved one. So they try, each in their own way, to make you feel that they understand how sad you are.

The world understands less the pain of losing an animal. This is because many people have never felt for themselves the true love of an animal. So, you cannot really expect these people to realize that your love for a pet may be greater than your love for the dearest people in your life.

The bond is different and can never be put into words. It is a bond that only The Heart understands.
(Author Martin Scot Kosins from Maya's First Rose)

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me....

Tara
Good Afternoon, I would like to take a few minutes to let you know that Tara is now with her four legged friends in doggy Heaven. Tara was a great dog who touched our hearts everyday she was with us. Tara recently passed from cancer. We did all that we could for her until we felt it was time to put her down, so that she did not suffer. Tara was the sweetest and most loving dog. She was very protective and gentle with our babies and made the quality of our life amazing. As a dog she did her job the best that any dog can and that was giving her love to us. She did that exceptionally well!!!! We are in morn today as I am sure you know a family member is a tough loss to bare! Tara will live on with us in our hearts and bring joy and smiles to all of us as we continue to talk about all the incredible times in the past that we had with her.

Cassie
Cassie arrived into DPR's care by accident, but her foster family knew she was meant to be with us. She was adopted out to a family that adored her and though much too short, her life was filled with nothing but love and comfort. Cassie, until we see you again at the Rainbow Bridge you will remain in our hearts.

Harpo and Albert
Both of you will remain in our hearts and minds forever. You brought out strength in us we never thought we had. We love you both and through you sisters you will be with us here until we are together again. September 2007

Pumpkin Lucille Phillips
9/27/06 Pumpkin was loved and cherished beyond belief. We adopted her at last year's puppy reunion, and she quickly made herself a very important part of our family. She was looking forward to this year's reunion but tragically, Pumpkin was hit by a car yesterday and we lost her. We are devastated. She is dearly missed not only by her owners but by her extended family, Tammy, Aaron and her four legged cousins Bella and Sadie Sue.

Gabriel
We take chances in life because our passion takes us there; we look for answers we know aren't out there. I'll remember your joy of rolling in the grass while on our walks; of running down the stairs taking two at a time, your smile. You are my special treasure. Stay close by, I need your strength and courage to move forward not able to see what's ahead. I love you Gabriel. You are deep in my heart always. April 2005 - August 29, 2006
